TROGERSTRASSE Residential Complex
We conducted a comprehensive CFD analysis and simulation study for the Trogerstrasse Residential Complex in Germany, evaluating airflow patterns, temperature distribution, and ventilation performance to optimize thermal comfort, indoor air quality, and HVAC system efficiency.

THE CHALLENGE
Residential complexes are typically designed, constructed, and maintained in accordance with strict performance and comfort criteria aimed at achieving energy efficiency and occupant well-being. Our objective was to enhance this process by employing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as an analytical tool to optimise the building’s thermal performance and ventilation efficiency.

OUR APPROACH
To ensure an accurate and meaningful analysis, we began by establishing clear design and performance criteria aligned with recognized occupant comfort standards, including those defined by ASHRAE and relevant European building codes. These standards served as the foundation for our CFD simulation strategy.
We defined key boundary conditions based on local weather data, occupancy profiles, and internal heat gains representative of the building’s operational conditions. A detailed 3D model of the Trogerstrasse Residential Complex was developed using design software, with distinct thermal zones created to reflect areas of varying comfort and usage patterns.
Within the CFD environment, a high-quality computational mesh was generated to accurately represent the building geometry. Appropriate boundary conditions were applied, and turbulence models were selected to capture airflow distribution and heat transfer characteristics throughout the space.
This approach provided valuable insights into the thermal comfort and ventilation performance of the Trogerstrasse Residential Complex. The findings supported informed design decisions, helping to optimize indoor comfort levels and overall building energy efficiency.
